When traveling, my skin care and makeup routines are much like they are at home. There are certain products I always use, because they work well for me. I have allergies and recently had cataract surgery, so I am perhaps overly cautious.
Each evening at bedtime I remove all traces of makeup with a Neutrogena cleansing wipe, wash with Clinique liquid facial soap, and finish with a layer of Clinique moisturizer.
Each morning I use facial soap, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Then I add the basics: blush, mascara, eyebrow gel, and lip color. That's it! On special occasions I might add eyeshadow or eyeliner, but not daily. As a general rule, I stick with Clinique skin cleansers, moisturizers, and blush, Neutrogena cleansing wipes, and Thrive Causemetics eye products.
My new favorite makeup item is an eyebrow gel. I found that tinting my eyebrows and adding lip color makes a 100% difference in pictures. Just doing these two things brightens my face and takes off years (even though my eyebrow gel is grey!)
I have super dry skin, so I slather on lotion night and day, but because I don't like the extra worry or weight of carrying shampoo & conditioner, body wash, or lotions on trips, I use whatever products are available at my destination. As a "just in case," I put small amounts of leave-in conditioner and body lotion in travel-sized bottles and add them to my TSA-approved liquids bag.
What's in my bag?
TSA-approved liquids bag: sunscreen, facial soap, moisturizer, mascara, eyebrow gel, body lotion, leave-in conditioner, eye drops and toothpaste.
Small makeup bag: facial cleansing sponge, shower cap, q-tips, blush stick, lipstick, deodorant, rechargeable toothbrush, facial wipes, dental floss, and a 1x/10x magnification compact mirror because I need it to put on my eye makeup!
Happy packing!
