Caroline finally joined us in Seoul for the weekend, and we set out to explore shops and cafés. She wanted us to experience one of the popular market streets. So off we went toward Insadong!
We found the Olympic mascots, Soohorang the tiger and Bandabi the bear! Soohorang was chosen for the Winter Olympics and Bandabi was selected for the Paralympics. They were so cute we had to pose with them!
This was my first time at an animal café where you could exchange your shoes for slippers, have light refreshments, and spend time feeding and loving animals! These cats were so sweet! My two cats at home don't really like strangers, so it was fun to watch the hairless cat (who wore a sweater) climb all over my girls. The café also had a wall map where I could pin my home location, and see where other visitors were from. I may get one of these for my house to pin the places I have traveled!
After a day with the cats, we pulled ourselves away and spent more time exploring. We stopped for oh-so-delicious street food, and ate one of the most popular winter treats, Bungeo-ppang (붕어빵; "carp bread") which is a fish-shaped pastry stuffed with sweetened red bean paste.
We had dinner back near our hotel, which was delicious, like all the food we've tried. Maybe we just love food! (We do, but especially the food on this trip.) We had dumplings and kimchi (a staple at every meal) and worked on our chopsticks skills.
