Gyeongbokgung Palace

Monday morning after I checked out I had coffee and took the subway to a Seoul "must see" location, the Gyeongbokgung Palace. This was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty, and was built in 1395. Parts of the palace have been destroyed and rebuilt throughout history. The last time I was here Caroline and I rented hanbok (traditional outfits) which give you free admission. Unfortunately, then it was raining and the palace was closed. Today I am wearing jeans, but the palace is open! After walking most of the property, I went to the National Palace Museum.

Monday afternoon I was headed from Seoul to Incheon when I made the only misstep on this trip - I took the subway in the wrong direction. I sat down with my phone map open in my hand. The lady sitting next to me looked at my map, then at me, and shook her head. She pointed to my phone to indicate that I was indeed headed in the wrong direction. I smiled, said 감사합니다, and got off at the next stop. In a few moments, I was headed in the correct direction for my final transfer. No worries after that! I got back to Caroline in time for dinner.
