Sorae Seafood Market and Seoul

Another day, another café! After a breakfast of cappuccino and cinnamon cookie, I headed to the seafood market. The market seemed to go on for miles. I explored and gazed in awe and the amounts and varieties of seafood. It was overwhelming. I really wanted to taste something but had not yet found an ATM to get won, and of course I wasn’t sure how to ask questions. As I stood watching, a mother and daughter were ordering fried shrimp, which they selected and a lady heated it for them in a large wok.

They noticed me watching and asked (in English) if I needed help. I asked if I could just get a couple of shrimp and she asked for me. The answer was 아니요 (no). You had to buy at least 10. So the daughter bought 10 and said she would share with me. She wouldn’t let me pay. They were so kind. They asked where I was from and I said America - the east coast - Charleston, to which they nodded their heads and said yes, we know Charleston, it’s beautiful! I left with two large shrimp and a smile on my face.

On the way back I spent some time on the boardwalk and visited the mascot, which is a huge shrimp, with stairs to get a better view of the water. Before returning home I did find an ATM and a Photo Booth!

After school I met Caroline at the subway and took off for a quick trip to Seoul. She had tickets to a pop-up store and photo shoot for Wicked. We got to the Hyundai Mall and up to the fifth floor just before our entry time. We had BUNPATTYBUN for dinner, then it was time for us. We took photos and she bought posters, a pin, and some cards. On the way to the subway we had Cinnabon on the Han River. Then back to Incheon.
